The top section of a 100,000-cubic-metre LDG holder being created at Laiwu Steel in China’s Shandong Province has successfully been craned into place.

CISDI, which is building the holder to an EPC mode, organised the lifting and installation - the project’s most precise and dangerous construction task.

The smoothly-executed capping procedure has paved the way for an on-schedule start-up of this single-stage, membrane-type gas holder, which has a body diameter of 58 metres and is around 69 metres high.

An effective vessel for recovering BOF gas, its other standout features include the ability to store dust-laden gas, tight and long-service sealing, and stable and fast piston running.

Stored gas pressure will be constant and stable and the CISDI-designed piston system is streamlined to prevent the rubber membrane from rolling or pulling. These technical features will simplify operations and reduce operation and maintenance costs.
